So, there's a woman who used to cycle around perth city with two australian flags propped up on her handlebars, singing old time faves like 'waltzing matilda' at the top of her lungs. now that's patriotism people. I say used to because only yesterday i saw this happy lady hootin away on her BRAND NEW SCOOTER, naturally refurbished with australian flags and bumper stickers.
So anyway she stops in the middle of st. georges tce, looks over at the innocent bystander and starts nodding and winking and saying things like 'yeah no worries ill talk to you later' and so on and so forth, all performed with such naturalness you'd think they'd known each other their whole lives. and then she scoots off again, laughing semi-histerically. at this point the bystander has turned to me with an expression of such shock you'd think she'd been attacked by a nuthouse escapee. which is almost accurate.
i had a bit of a cackle myself if you don't mind me saying.
Also, there's been a lot of hanging out these days, what with the whole summer business and the frustration of a nine to five day. one must get out. so, a lot of chillin with crazy kids whom i know and some new ones that i now know, movie nights in miss lidia and mr ketelsen's backyard, chinese duck dinners and long walks in hyde park in the company of entire tribes of mosquitoes, a lot of talk about camus, and resistance, and religion (thankyou tk), a lot of talk about nothing at all, a lot of wine, and coffee, and cigarettes, and a lot of not-sleep due to prolonged phone conversations followed by red eyed morning seediness.
and tonight, my friends, some sort of bollywood extravaganza awaits me which may or may not include loud indian music and spicy, also indian, food. and of course, a lot of french trash talking, should monsieur jaques show up to this exhilerating evening.
