there is a glazed porcelain egg box sitting in a glass square in the art gallery for the st petersburg exhibition. it's white and decorated with red and gold enamel mosaic pieces, sitting on a pedestal, pretty symbol of the russian turn o' the the century bourgeoisie. ahh, excesses.
marina tells me she really digs the tiny gouache number, a picnic scene of ladies in white dresses and the odd gentleman in leisurewear, very matisse it is. but what really gets my attention is the wall size peasant women in the folk section, all draped in thick red paint.
how i love thick red paint.
but it seems that these overworked days have no mercy for bourgeois hobbies like painting. but no, i dont believe that. i dont believe painting is a bourgeois thing, unless you make it so. but thats just bad taste. or decoration. the word just gets thrown around a lot. im just making excuses.
no but definately more time needs to be spent on creation. so i take the chance to digress here: tarek i've been reading your portrait of a semite and my humble word of advice for you is, sit your ass down and finish off that amazing piece of literature because that needs to get out there.
oh and how i wish i weren't such a time waster.
